Absolutely gorgeous African birds eye malachite mixed with bright blue chrysocolla and then tumbler polished creating just stunning specimens! These are imported by Kidz Rocks from the Katanga Mine in Congo. Birds eye malachite is the most valuable and prettiest form of malachite.

Chrysocolla is very soft and likewise does not polish to a super glassy polished finish but that aspect of these specimens adds to its natural look and feel. The brown tones in these is cuprite (pure copper ore)

These are NOT the tiny 1/2 inch ones others sell.

You will receive one specimen from the lot shown in the photos that is 1 1/2 inch to 2 inch. These are all very high quality and while the pattern is very different from one stone to the next, they are all beautiful.

Chrysocolla is attractive blue-green and provides a unique color to the mineral world. Chrysocolla forms in the oxidation zones of copper rich ore bodies. The name Chrysocolla comes from the Greek words cyrysos which means gold and the word kola which means glue.

Chrysocolla has been known to man since the beginning of recorded history. It should be noted that Chrysocolla got its name because its properties were first used to solder gold. Using Chrysocolla was first recorded in 315 BC by a Greek philosopher and botanist named Theophrastus. Legend has it that eilat stone was originally mined in King Solomon's mines in Africa.

Malachite is a famous and very popular semi-precious stone. It is named for the Greek word for mallow, a green herb. Its banded light and dark green designs are one-of-a-kind, and give it a unique ornamental quality unlike that of any other stone. The light and dark green bands are so distinctive that malachite maybe one of the most easily recognized minerals by the general public.
