Mineral Description
Amazonite (sometimes called “Amazon stone”) is a green variety of microcline feldspar. The name is taken from that of the Amazon River. Amazonite is a mineral of limited occurrence. Because of its bright green color when polished, amazonite is sometimes cut and used as a gemstone, although it is easily fractured. For many years, the source of amazonite’s color was a mystery. Naturally, many people assumed the color was due to copper because copper compounds often have blue and green colors. More recent studies suggest that the blue-green color results from small quantities of lead and water in the feldspar.

It displays a schiller of light which is caused by inclusions. Schiller is a lustrous reflection from planes in a mineral grain and is similar to what is more commonly known as iridescence. The schiller is caused by a feature of the stone’s crystal structure. Orthoclase feldspar and albite are present in close association, arranged in layers. We ship USPS First Class or USPS Priority Flat Rate for orders over 16 ounces. Our shop never charges more than $7.75 shipping no matter how many rocks are on your order! We wrap every rock separately in high quality white foam that we recycle from local picture framing shops. Cancel any time before we ship and simply message us for a refund and you keep the rocks if you are not satisfied. If is a really expensive rock we will send you a return prepaid shipping label to return the product.

Our Listing Photographs
What you see IS what you get at Kidz Rocks! Besides using high quality Nikon lenses, we use 4500 color temperature 100 CRI lighting. 4500 temperature being the closest to natural light and CRI being Color Rendering Index or a light sources ability to faithfully render the colors. Solux is the only company that makes a full 100 CRI bulb. The adult hand in the photos is my hand and I have a very large hand measuring 8 inches from wrist to finger tip.

Disclosures
