This is super high quality magnetite and pyrite, also know as Healers Gold. It is very pure magnetite (very heavy for its size) mixed with fine particles of pyrite throughout the stone. We import these directly from a mine in Ontario Canada.

Extra large size and equally large dramatic effect when holding one of these big pieces. Lots of sellers offer small 1 inch size pieces so we found some nice big pieces to offer everyone!

You will receive one specimen from the lot shown in the photos which is 4 inch to 5 inch and weighs 1 1/2 pound to 2 pounds.

Mineral Description
Magnetite is a rock mineral and one of the main iron ores, with the chemical formula Fe3O4. It is one of the oxides of iron, and is ferrimagnetic; it is attracted to a magnet and can be magnetized to become a permanent magnet itself. It is the most magnetic of all the naturally-occurring minerals on Earth. Naturally-magnetized pieces of magnetite, called lodestone, will attract small pieces of iron, which is how ancient peoples first discovered the property of magnetism.

Pyrite’s metallic luster and pale-to-normal, brass-yellow hue have earned it the nickname fool’s gold because of its resemblance to gold. The color has also led to the nicknames brass, brazzle and Brazil, primarily used to refer to pyrite found in coal. The name Pyrite comes from the Greek word pry which means fire or pyrites lithos meaning stone which strikes fire, in allusion to the sparking produced when iron is struck by a lump of pyrite. In ancient Roman times, this name was applied to several types of stone that would create sparks when struck against steel.
