These Oco Agate Geodes are imported by Kidz Rocks from Fontoura Xavier, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. They are cut in half and polished on the cut face. They are dyed purple to enhance the color. Some of the dye may rub off on your hands when handling them a lot. These are very high quality pieces with nice crystal cavities and electric color.

You will receive one Oco Agate Geode from the lot shown in the listing photos that is 2 inch to 2 1/2 inch and weighing between 2 and 4 ounces.

Mineral Description
Ocoƒ??sƒ?, is the word used in Brazil where they are found, are tiny agate nodules with a geode center. The formation in which the geodes are found is 50 million years old and located in the country of Brazil. Farmers have gathered the Ocoƒ??s for many years. After the crops have been harvested and the farmers are unable to work, the fields are tilled under allowing the Ocoƒ??s to appear. They are then gathered and sold for cutting into the geode half.

Geodes are rock and crystalline formations found in volcanic and sedimentary rock. Geodes are essentially rock cavities or vugs with internal crystal formations or concentric banding. The exterior of the most common geodes is generally limestone or a related rock, while the interior contains quartz crystals and/or chalcedony deposits.

Other geodes are completely filled with crystal, being solid all the way through. These types of geodes are called nodules. These formations are common in just a few states in America, but can be found anywhere from store shelves, where they are sold as paper weights, to lawn ornamentation in landscaping.
